Breathe Easy at Portmeirion
Portmeirion Potteries Ltd is the first company to achieve Stoke-on-Trent Primary Care Trust's Breathe Easy Award in recognition of its work on becoming a smoke free business.
The Breathe Easy Award recognises Portmeirion's commitment to the health of its employees by encouraging them to stamp out smoking for good. Gordon Lomax, Health & Safety Manager, said "We understand how supporting staff to stop smoking and creating a smoke free environment can be beneficial to both the individual employee and the business".
The Breath Easy Award has been introduced by Stoke-on-Trent PCT to help companies go smoke free and follow the legislation which came into force last year banning smoking in public places and workplaces.
The award was presented to Alan Devine, Operations Manager, and Gordon Lomax, Health and Safety Manager, at Portmeirion's head office in Stoke-on-Trent on the 29th May 2008.
